Parents Children and Divorce Course
Our four-hour program is designed to help divorcing and separating couples focus on what is in the best interest of their children and how to work more cooperatively and effectively with each other.

Parents, Children and Divorce, authored by Nancy Porter-Thal MS, LMHC, CDM, is an interactive class for parents to complete prior to a divorce being granted. It does not tell parents how to raise their kids. Rather, this court mandated class aims to accomplish four simple, highly important goals:

How to strengthen the family unit by focusing on what the children are going through and ways to help children cope with the divorce and feelings of loss.

  1. How to communicate more effectively with your children and your former spouse.
  2. How to identify the warning signs of depression and anger with your children.
  3. How to handle the trauma children face during and after the family unit changes due to divorce or separation.

Parents, Children and Divorce is offered throughout Florida and in various states. Click here for a location nearest you.

Parents, Children and Divorce is also available by independent study for those parents in a divorce action who lives outside their state in which the divorce is filed. Click here for more information.

All aspects of divorce are confusing at best. For this reason, Parents, Children and Divorce is proud to offer Parents for Life, a quarterly newsletter for divorcing parents. This valuable resource, written by various professionals, is full of useful advice including feature columns such as: Dollars and Sense, Divorce Matters, Helping Kids be Kids and other parenting tips. Parents, Children and Divorce is an interactive program designed to help parents understand the needs of their children during the transition of divorce. Parents are reminded that the dissolution of a marriage is not the dissolution of a family. Our program enables parents and their children to deal with the impact of divorce in a way that is helpful to all family members.
